About Beacon Ranch
A Texas ranch sanctuary built on clinical expertise, business rigor, and a shared belief in slow, intentional work.
How Beacon Ranch came to be
The Beacon Ranch concept took shape when Danielle was a kid. She never had the opportunity to ride horses, but loved going to the barn with her friend who took lessons. Fast forward, Danielle's first daughter showed interest in riding after exposure to pony club. When her daughter began taking lessons at Snowdonia Sporthorse Complex ("Snowdonia") in Brookshire, TX, Danielle had time to wander in the pastures and spend time with the horses on her own. During a particularly hard time in life, Danielle found herself looking forward to the naturally grounding experience of time spent with horses in nature with no expectations: this is how the Beacon Ranch concept came to life.

After more than 15 years as a licensed counselor, registered dietician and functional medicine coach, Danielle knew she wanted a way to care for the whole person in a peaceful environment that went beyond a 50 min. session. As a first step, she obtained her EAGALA certification to offer Equine Assisted Psychotherapy to her clients at Snowdonia. The next step was to launch Beacon Ranch in order to allow participants to immerse themselves in nature and learn from the horses.

One day she received a call from her barn friend, Rachel, who boarded and trained at Snowdonia for many years. Rachel mentioned she was looking for a way to combine her finance, accounting and sales background into a business that combined mental health and horses: and the partnership began.
Rachel has loved horses her entire life, but the real passion began on a trip to Yellowstone National Park with her family at age 7 when she rode a grey horse named "Gus". From there, she was hooked.

After pursuing competitive Three Day Eventing (an equestrian triathlon) in her early teens and adult years, she took a decades long break from horses. Rachel went to the University of Texas at Austin to pursue her Bachelors in Business and Masters in Accounting, then obtained her CPA. She moved to New York City after school and quickly realized accounting was not her calling. She tried Investment Banking next for two years, then transitioned into B2B tech sales. After coming back to Texas during COVID, she decided to go take a riding lesson for old times sake. In that first lesson she met her horse Nemo, now 21 and retired, who is one of the Beacon Ranch Retreat program horses.

Both Danielle and Rachel share a love for the healing power of nature and horses. By blending the tranquility of nature with the therapeutic presence of horses and the power of community, Danielle and Rachel hope Beacon Ranch Retreat Center will be a sanctuary for facilitating awareness.
What we stand for
Clinical comes first, wellness follows
Retreats that aren't grounded in clinical frameworks tend to feel good and change little. We build ours the other way around.
Real work, real rest
Guests won't be pushed through constant programming. Part of what the land offers is the room to do nothing - we think that's part of the work, not a break from it.
Small groups, always
We cap every retreat at sizes small enough for each guest to be seen. No one gets lost in our programs
Build the business with the same care we bring to the work
We run Beacon Ranch as a real business with the operational rigor that wellness brands often lack and the clinical integrity that business operators typically don't have access to.
Meet Danielle

Danielle has spent her career at the intersection of mental health, nutrition, and whole-body medicine. As the Co-Founder of the Cognizant Group, a Licensed Professional Counselor, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist, and Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach, she works with clients who've often tried the standard approaches and come looking for something more integrated.

Danielle grew up loving horses from the ground and began combining equine-assisted work with her clinical practice 2 years ago utilizing the EAGALA modality. At Beacon Ranch, she leads the clinical framework, designs the retreat programming and brand strategy.
Outside of work, Danielle runs the Cognizant Group with her husband Bryan, spends time with her 4 kids and enjoys horses from the ground.

She still cares for her individual therapy and dietary clients through The Cognizant Group.
Meet Rachel

Rachel brings her background in accounting and finance to Beacon Ranch Retreat Center. Her career took shape after she received her Masters in Professional Accounting and became a CPA (inactive). From there she spent 3 years in M&A and 6 years in B2B sales. Working in high growth start ups has shaped her approach to building and running Beacon Ranch.

Rachel has spent most of her life around horses and experienced burnout in her career which is how she immediately recognized the unmet need in many work environments of caring for the whole person as part of a team.
At Beacon Ranch, Rachel leads operations, business development, corporate partnerships, and is an equine specialist.
Outside of Beacon Ranch, Rachel spends time with her husband Campbell and dog Duck, enjoys bareback rides on her horse Nemo and competes in Three Day Eventing with her horse Craig (pictured).
