What is a Beacon Ranch experience

What to expect

Our retreats are designed for people who feel the pull of something bigger: a life transition, a stretch of burnout, a desire for clarity, or simply the need to be somewhere that isn't their regular life.

You'll work with horses on the ground, move through guided practices, share nourishing meals with a small group, and spend real time on the land. No phones in sessions. No performance. No pressure to share more than you want to.

We will create space for you to have your own experience. What comes out of it is different for everyone.

The core work of the day. Small group or one-on-one depending on the retreat.

We take many breaks between sessions and will leverage an indoor arena as well as wander into the pastures

1:00 PM

Debrief and wrap up

The horses, the land

We work on 40+ acres 40 min. west of Houston - pasture and arena. The horses are the heart of the work. They don't perform, and neither do you.

Is this for you?

This might be for you if…

  • You're navigating a transition - career, relationship, health, identity

  • You've done therapy and want to try something embodied

  • You're a high-performer who can't stop performing, even when resting

  • You feel disconnected from yourself, your body, or what you actually want

  • You're ready to be somewhere quiet for a few days

  • You're looking for education on emotional regulation

This is probably not for you if…

  • You're in an acute mental health crisis - we care deeply about your safety and would encourage connecting with a crisis professional first

  • You're looking for a spa weekend (this is relaxing and nourishing, but real work)

  • You're expecting guaranteed specific outcomes - retreats create conditions and space, but not guarantees

  • You're uncomfortable being around horses or outdoors for extended periods

Frequently asked

Q: Do I need experience with horses?
No. Most of our guests have never worked with horses before. The horses don't require any skill.

Q: Is this therapy?
Our group retreats are facilitated experiences, not group therapy. Danielle is a licensed counselor (LPC) and brings clinical frameworks to the work, but retreats are not a substitute for individual therapy. Some guests attend alongside their own therapist.

Q: What's the group size?
Sessions are capped at 8 per session. Weekend sessions are capped at 6 per session. Private sessions can have custom group sizes.

Q: What's the lodging like?
On-site accommodations with private and shared room options. Linens, towels, and basic toiletries provided. Full details go out once you're registered.

Q: What should I bring?
A detailed packing list is sent two weeks before your retreat if you are staying overnight. Short version: clothes you can move in, a journal, closed-toe shoes for the arena and interacting with horses, and layers for Texas weather.

Q: What's your cancellation policy?
There is a covered arena onsite to ensure we can do our sessions in any weather. No refund within 30 days, but spots are transferable to a friend or future retreat.
